App Store and Google Play Screenshot Sizes (2026)
The exact pixel sizes, file rules and limits for iPhone, iPad, Android and the Google Play feature graphic.
Updated:
Store screenshots get rejected for small reasons: one pixel off, a transparent PNG, a landscape image in a portrait set. This guide lists the sizes that work in 2026 and the rules around them, so your upload goes through the first time.
Quick answer
| Store slot | Size (portrait, px) | Required? |
|---|---|---|
| iPhone 6.9 inch | 1320 × 2868 | Yes (or 6.5 inch) |
| iPhone 6.5 inch | 1284 × 2778 | Only without 6.9 inch |
| iPad 13 inch | 2064 × 2752 | Yes, if the app runs on iPad |
| Android phone | 1080 × 1920 | Yes, at least 2 |
| Google Play feature graphic | 1024 × 500 | Yes |
These are the sizes StoreAppScreens exports. Apple and Google accept a few other sizes too; when in doubt, use the ones above, they are the largest and safest.
App Store (iPhone and iPad)
Since 2024 Apple only asks for the largest display of each device family. App Store Connect scales those screenshots down for every smaller iPhone and iPad, so you no longer need a set for 5.5 inch or 6.1 inch phones.
- iPhone 6.9 inch: 1320 × 2868 pixels in portrait. This is the main set and covers the newest Pro Max and Plus models.
- iPhone 6.5 inch: 1284 × 2778 pixels. Apple uses it only when you don't upload 6.9 inch screenshots, but many teams still upload both.
- iPad 13 inch: 2064 × 2752 pixels. Required as soon as your app supports iPad, even if it is an iPhone app that also runs on iPad.
- Count: 1 to 10 screenshots per device size and per language.
- Format: PNG or JPEG, RGB, no transparency. Landscape is allowed, but every screenshot in one set must have the same orientation.
Only the first three portrait screenshots show up in App Store search results. Put your strongest message there; the rest is for people who open your page.
App previews (video)
Next to screenshots you can add up to 3 app preview videos per size and language. They must be 15 to 30 seconds long and show footage captured from the app itself. A preview plays muted in search results, so the first seconds need to work without sound.
Google Play (Android)
Google Play is more flexible about exact sizes but has its own rules about ratio and file type.
- Phone screenshots: we recommend 1080 × 1920 pixels (9:16). Any size from 320 to 3840 pixels per side works, as long as the long side is at most twice the short side.
- Count: 2 to 8 screenshots per device type (phone, 7 inch tablet, 10 inch tablet, Chromebook, and so on).
- Format: JPEG or 24-bit PNG without transparency.
- Recommendations: to be eligible for featuring and recommendation spots, Google asks for at least 4 screenshots of 1080 pixels or more on the short side.
- Feature graphic: 1024 × 500 pixels, required to publish. See our feature graphic guide.
- App icon: 512 × 512 pixels, 32-bit PNG.
Text limits that go with your screenshots
| Field | App Store | Google Play |
|---|---|---|
| App name / title | 30 characters | 30 characters |
| Subtitle / short description | 30 characters | 80 characters |
| Keywords | 100 characters | No field |
| Promotional text | 170 characters | No field |
| Description | 4000 characters | 4000 characters |
Our App Store keywords guide explains how to use those 100 characters well.
Common reasons screenshots get rejected
- Wrong size by a few pixels. Exporting from a design tool at the wrong scale is the most common cause. Export at the exact pixel size.
- Transparency. A PNG with an alpha channel is rejected by both stores. Flatten it onto a background.
- Mixed orientation. One landscape screenshot in a portrait set fails the whole upload.
- Only marketing art. Apple's review guidelines ask that screenshots show the app in use, not just a logo, a splash screen or a login form.
- Wrong device frame. Showing an Android phone in your App Store screenshots, or the reverse, can lead to rejection.
Make every size from one design
Designing four sets by hand for every language takes days. With StoreAppScreens you pick a template, drop in your screens and write a headline once; it exports iPhone 6.9 and 6.5 inch, iPad 13 inch, Android and the feature graphic in one ZIP, for every language you add.
Sizes change from time to time. This page was checked in October 2026; Apple's screenshot specifications and Google's preview asset rules are the official sources.
